Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has the NFL Twitter world buzzing after teasing a drastic move for day two of the NFL Draft.
On Thursday, the Colts used the No. 4 selection on Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson. He was the third quarterback taken after Bryce Young (first overall to the Carolina Panthers) and C.J. Stroud (second overall to the Houston Texans).
In an all-time draft stunner, Kentucky Wildcats signal-caller Will Levis — widely expected to be a top-10 selection — went undrafted on Thursday. And that prompted Irsay to hint at this jaw-dropping scenario for day two of the draft:
The Colts hold the No. 35 selection in the draft, and the three teams who pick ahead of them are unlikely to draft Levis. The Pittsburgh Steelers (32nd overall) have Kenny Pickett, the Arizona Cardinals (33rd) have Kyler Murray and the Detroit (34th) have Jared Goff.
Levis could very well be there for the Colts at No. 35 if Irsay wants to take Levis. Of course, there’s also a good chance that another club will trade up ahead of Indianapolis to get the Kentucky product anyway.
In all likelihood, however, the Colts will address a different position with the No. 35 selection. They already have a steady veteran presence in Gardner Minshew II (signed in free agency last month) to start at quarterback if Richardson isn’t ready.

Richardson is the first quarterback the Colts have taken in round one since Andrew Luck, who was selected first overall in 2012. Luck retired from football weeks before the 2019 season due to injuries.
