Jim Irsay was a throwback type of mood this week.
At one point in his life, the Colts owner was completely jacked up and proved it when he took to Twitter and shared a video from his powerlifting days. In the clip, he weighed 307 lbs and squatted 525 lbs at the Super Heavy Weight Power Lifting Championships.
Irsay spent 10 years as the Colts’ vice president/general manager before he took over as the team’s Principal Owner/CEO in 1997. In his career, he has amassed a 295-265 overall record and a Super Bowl victory in 2006.
As for current day, the team is coming off a disappointing 2021 campaign where they couldn’t win one of their two final games to qualify for the postseason and now face questions at QB on whether to run it back with carson Wentz after trading for him.
In the aftermath of the 2021 season, the Chicago Bears fired coach Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace; the Minnesota Vikings did likewise with coach Mike Zimmer and GM Rick Spielman; and Miami parted ways with coach Brian Flores. The Broncos also fired coach Vic Fangio.
No such reboot is happening with the Colts.

“That was never in question,’’ Irsay said of moving on from either Ballard or Reich. “As an owner, I can say I have the utmost faith in Frank and Chris.’’
In August, Irsay signed both to extensions through the 2026 season.
