Indianapolis Colts star wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. admits that there is no recollection of the dangerous hit he took from Damontae Kazee of the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
Midway through the second quarter of last Saturday’s home game against the Steelers, Pittman Jr. took a vicious hit to the head from Kazee after the former tried catching a pass from Gardner Minshew.
As a result of the hit, Kazee was suspended for the rest of the 2023 season. The suspension includes any possible playoff games, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Per ESPN’s Stephen Holder, Pittman Jr. admitted that he doesn’t remember the hit at all. The star wideout is now out of concussion protocol, but it’s unclear if he’ll play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday:
“I honestly never saw him coming. I was diving, I caught it, and then all of a sudden, I woke up and there’s people looking down at me. I was like, ‘Oh, s—, what just happened?…
“I really didn’t grasp how significant it was until I watched it. I remember sitting in my locker and then my wife came in crying, my daughter was crying. And that’s the first time that I was like, ‘Maybe this was bad.'”
Pittman Jr. added that though he didn’t think it was a clean hit, he disagrees with the league’s decision to suspend Kazee for the remainder of the year. A classy Pittman Jr. said he doesn’t want Kazee to “lose out on everything.”
