The Carson Wentz era in Indy has ended as quickly as it began, as it was announced earlier today that the Colts traded the polarizing quarterback to Washington for a package of picks.
The move came just one year after Indianapolis traded away a third- and first-round pick to the Eagles for Wentz’s services, as a disappointing end to their 2021 campaign left the Colts unsatisfied with their quarterback situation.
It was later reported that the Colts had received two third-round-picks from Indy in return for Wentz.
On paper, it appeared to be a good move for the Colts. Sure, they gave up a couple of valuable picks for Wentz just one year ago, but they also rid themselves of his hefty $28-million contract, while getting a couple of key draft picks to soften the blow from last year’s deal.
Colts fans will probably praise the deal, but at least one of their own players seems less than impressed.
Following the trade, Indianapolis linebacker Darius Leonard took to twitter to question the move, commenting on the Colts’ quarterback carousel over the years while wishing Wentz the best in Washington.

In case you’re wondering, it’s actually about to be six different week one starters in the last six years for Indy.
Perhaps the sixth time’s a charm? You can bet Leonard is hoping so.
