Indianapolis Colts’ star running back Jonathan Taylor has responded to rumors that he’s been dealing with an injury amid reports that he’s seeking a trade.
On Saturday, it was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that Taylor requested a trade after meeting with Colts’ owner Jim Irsay. The 2021 rushing champion is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
There has been speculation that the 2020 second-round pick is nursing a back injury, but Taylor took to Twitter to clarify that this is not the case. Taylor even suggested that insiders find new “sources.”
Indianapolis selected the Wisconsin product 41st overall in 2020. Taylor took over as the Colts’ lead running back that year, finishing with 1,169 yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 36 receptions, 299 receiving yards and one receiving TD.
Taylor led the NFL in rushing as a sophomore in 2021, finishing with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Though he missed six games last season, Taylor still finished with 861 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

The 2023 offseason certainly hasn’t been kind to running backs. Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard all exceeded 1,000 rushing yards in 2023 but failed to receive extensions from their respective teams. On top of that, four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook has been a free agent for nearly two months since his release from the Minnesota Vikings.
The 2023 NFL regular season is just over a month away, so it will be interesting to see how Taylor and the Colts proceed in the coming weeks.
