Colts Fire OL Coach Who Treated Player Like Crap After His Brother Was Murdered

This is absolutely awful.

One of the biggest stories of the 2018 season was the Indianapolis Colts who started 1-5 and qualified for the playoffs, even defeating the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.

One of the biggest changes to the team was the offensive line that went from one of the worst in for many years, to the absolute best this season. OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo had a lot to do with that change.

The Colts allowed a league-low 18 sacks this season, so it was shocking to see that the Colts had parted ways with him this week.

Stunner: The #Colts are letting OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo go, sources say. That line made tremendous leaps this season. But Frank Reich wants his own guy. DeGuglielmo was the only offensive coach Josh McDaniels had hired. Reich is actually recommending him to other coaches.

Despite his expertise as an offensive line coach, he comes off as a terrible human being after former Colts player Denzelle Good told a tale about how he was treated by him following the death of his brother.

The Indianapolis Colts opened up the month of December by waiving offensive lineman Denzelle Good, who was still trying to work through the aftermath of his brother’s death earlier in the season.

Though the Colts front office and coaching staff did everything they could to help Good in his time of need, the former seventh-round pick told Vic Tafur of The Athletic that there were issues with offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo.

“I came back after my brother was murdered and I was dealing with a lot of personal issues,” Good told The Athletic. “That didn’t sit well with (DeGuglielmo). He wanted players that fight through things and play.”

“He told me that as long as I was there, I would never play for him again,” Good said. “I would never play another down because he felt disrespected. I wasn’t going to play even though I felt I was as good as anyone on the field playing.”

“Being called a failure by somebody when everybody else in the organization felt differently, that gave me some fire when I came here,” Good said. “I always felt I could be a starter. Things just went sour in Indianapolis.”

I’m not disappointed in how the @Colts organization treated me after my brothers death. I just had issues with one coach. I repeat, the Organization did everything in their power to help me in my time of need and I’m still very thankful to the Irsay Family, Ballard and Reich.
