The NFL has its second coaching casualty of the season, and it comes from Indianapolis.
According to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Colts have fired head coach Frank Reich following a 3-5-1 start to the 2022 NFL season.
The Colts have been ravaged by injuries this season, and are coming off their third straight loss.
Their latest “L” came at the hands of the New England Patriots. During that game, the team managed just 103 yards through the air and 78 yards on the ground during a 26-3 loss. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger was sacked a whopping nine times on the day.
Through the first nine games of the season, the Colts have managed to score more than 20 points just once. Their 14.7 points per game is the worst mark in the league.

In all fairness to Reich, however, he has had to endure the losses of star running back Jonathan Taylor and All Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard for most of the season. And the whole Matt Ryan project was a complete disaster from day one.
In his first four seasons with the team, Reich took the Colts to the playoffs twice. And he only had one losing season. But with just one postseason victory and back-to-back non-playoff seasons seemingly inevitable now, it looks like owner Jim Irsay and general manager Chris Ballard felt it was time for a change.
