The New York Jets are in need of a quarterback following Monday night’s developments, and Colin Kaepernick’s camp has wasted no time making contact.
Aaron Rodgers’s debut in a Jets uniform went horribly wrong as the QB suffered a season-ending injury against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. The former Green Bay Packers star was unable to walk on his own after getting sacked on his first drive and it’s since been announced that he’s out for the rest of 2023 with a torn Achilles.
While the Jets have made Zach Wilson their QB1 in the wake of the injury, they are in search of a veteran backup.
Kaepernick is among QBs they could consider, with the likes of Cam Newton, Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, and Matt Ryan also on the market as things stand.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, he’s heard from Kap himself that his agent has been in contact with the Jets since the injury.
“I just spoke with Colin Kaepernick, who tells me his agent has reached out to the #Jets about his desire to make an NFL return,” Schultz tweeted on Tuesday. “Kaepernick remains on the West Coast working out.”
