Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 and the Seahawks remain the only team to have hosted him on a visit since then. However, that was merely a meeting and not a workout.
On Wednesday, he held one of his own as he spent some time throwing to a handful of pass catchers, including Seahawks receiver Aaron Fuller, at the University of Washington’s indoor practice facility.
Afterward, Kaepernick stopped to talk to reporters and confirmed he has had conversations with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider. He said he hopes to get a tryout with the team but that nothing has happened so far.
“Still waiting for that chance,” Kaepernick said. “Still hopeful. There’s been a lot of conversation around it. Again, we’ve had conversations with Pete and John previously. As Pete mentioned, we have spoken recently and still hoping that door is open and get a chance to walk through it.”
Carroll said last Wednesday that Kaepernick had contacted him “the other day” and sent him some videos of workouts. He was noncommittal on if the team will bring Kaepernick in for a visit or workout.
“I don’t know that,” Carroll said last week. “He’s making a remarkable bid for it, to sustain his conditioning over the four years that he’s been out, going on five. Who knows? I don’t know. We’ll see.”

After the 2016 season, Kaepernick opted out of his contract, knowing that the 49ers were going to release him.
Kaepernick insisted he hasn’t lost anything during his time away.
“The best way to tell is to bring me in for a workout,” he said. “We have no expectations of what teams will do. But we just want the opportunity to walk in the door and show them what I can do and I think my talent, my skill set, will speak for itself.”
Kaepernick has not played in five seasons and is now 34-years-old.
