On Thursday, Colin Kaepernick’s name went viral on social media after a fake account changed its account name to SportsCenter and tweeted out that he signed a deal with the New York Jets.
As it turned out, there is actually some truth to the connection, after TMZ Sports stated the free agent NFL QB plans to reach out to the Jets with the hope of securing a contract.
Kaepernick reportedly “feels he would be a great fit” with New York, although it’s currently unknown if there is mutual interest.
The 32-year-old Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since Jan. 1, 2017, opting out of his contract with the 49ers in March 2017.
During his six-year career with the 49ers, Kaepernick amassed 12,271 passing yards, 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in 69 career games. He also rushed for 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns.
