If Colin Kaepernick wants to make a return to football, the former NFL quarterback appears to have a way to do that.
Colin Kaepernick hasn’t taken an NFL snap since January 1, 2017, but his name continues to surface.
There is no indication that a team is going to take a chance on him but that hasn’t stopped Ben Axelrod of The Comeback from mentioning him as a potential option for the Browns.
This week, the Browns announced that Deshaun Watson would be missing the entire season due to a shoulder injury.
Axelrod had this to say about Kaepernick, via The Comeback:
While he hasn’t played organized football since the 2016 season, that hasn’t stopped Colin Kaepernick from being linked to NFL openings. As recently as September, he made his case to the Jets following Rodgers’ injury, but ultimately remained un-signed.
At 36 years old and nearly seven years removed from his last NFL game, it’s fair to wonder how capable of a quarterback Kaepernick currently is. But if he’s anything like he was the last time we saw him on the field, he’d make for an intriguing fit as Watson’s replacement in Cleveland
It doesn’t seem like the 35-year-old has any interest in playing in the XFL as mentioned by The Rock in an Instagram comment. Although there are two leagues out there that would welcome Kaepernick with open arms, he seems to have his eyes set on the NFL.

Kaepernick even wrote a letter to the Jets last month after Aaron Rodgers went down with his season-ending injury. In that letter, Kaepernick said he’d be willing to be New York’s scout team quarterback if the team was willing to sign him.
Right now, the Jets don’t want him, but the Browns might.
