Colin Cowherd makes a living off spitting out hot takes. Some of those hot takes end up being correct. Many more of them prove to be wrong.
File this one under the latter.
During an episode of The Herd prior to the 2021 NFL Draft, the FS1 host threw some shots at the former Alabama quarterback and one of his biggest pre-draft supporters, Mel Kiper. “Mac Jones, good Lord. Mel Kiper’s gotta slow down on this,” Cowherd told his viewers. “Mac Jones ain’t gonna work folks. It’s not gonna work. You’ve just got to come to terms with it. It’s not gonna work.”

Fast forward to November and it looks like Mac Jones has worked out wonderfully if you’re the New England Patriots, and rather horribly for the other 14 teams who passed on him before he was scooped up by Bill Belichick with the 15th overall pick.
Through the first 11 games of his career, Jones has a 70.2 completion percentage, 14 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and a 7-4 record. He currently has his Patriots on a five game winning streak and he’s easily been the most impressive rookie quarterback from the 2021 class thus far.
