If you’re on live television enough, then you are prone to making mistakes at times. but some things definitely should not happen.
Colin Cowherd has been covering sports for a long time, especially the NFL. He knows where each team plays, whether it’s a division or conference. That is why his latest mistake is unforgivable.
Colin Cowherd made an embarrassing mistake during a segment where he spoke about Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks.
Cowherd was attempting to make the case that he couldn’t picture Geno Smith beating the likes of Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes en route to an AFC Championship. He was technically right since Geno Smith hasn’t played in the AFC since the 2018 season and the Seattle Seahawks play in the NFC West.
“They’re too young in my opinion to win a Super Bowl, but I do think can win a division and multiple playoff games. I don’t see Geno [Smith] holding up the AFC Championship Game trophy over a Mahomes or a Burrow,” Cowherd said.
Cowherd could’ve been right at one point since the Seahawks were an AFC team at one point. But when the NFL realigned, they jumped to the NFC. That came in 2002.

The Seahawks didn’t reach one Super Bowl in their run as an AFC team. They have, however, represented the NFC three times.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is coming off a career-best season that saw him throw for 4,282 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Having been in the league for nine years, some feel that Smith’s career at the age of 32 is just getting started. He led a Seahawks team to the playoffs in a year that was supposed to be bad after the team traded away Russell Wilson. Instead, the Broncos had a bad year.
Just maybe one day we can see him lift that NFC trophy and throw it in the face of Colin Cowherd.
Here’s how NFL fans reacted to Cowherd’s embarrassing gaffe:
