Colin Cowherd has one thing he likes about his favorite athletes and he wants guys like Aaron Rodgers and Kyrie Irving to listen up.
Rodgers went viral earlier this week for revealing that he took the psychedelic drug DMT a few years ago. The Packers quarterback credited the drug for his back-to-back MVP campaigns in 2020 and 2021.
Cowherd thought this was complete nonsense, saying, “Lots of people have tried this psychedelic tea: They’re called hippies, burnouts and affluent white people with too much time on their hands, and nobody in their life to call out their crap,” he said. “Aaron’s got no owner. No real relationship with his brother or parents, and no wife.”
The FS1 host then went on to explain that he likes his athletes to marry strong women.
“I like my pro athletes to be married to strong women,” Cowherd declared Thursday on his Fox Sports Radio show. “They call you out on their crap. I got into an argument with a friend not long ago, my wife told me right to my face, ‘be a man, Colin, don’t be passive-aggressive.’ She was right, I was wrong. Had I been single I would’ve become self-absorbed, pointing fingers.”
Cowherd then made some comparisons to basketball players.

“Kevin Durant has had some weird decisions in recent years. You think if he was married, went to his wife, and said, ‘I’m gonna leave Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Steve Kerr, the best owner and GM in the league, and go play with Kyrie Irving’ … his wife would’ve said, ‘Get on the damn phone. Have lunch. Figure it out. You’re leaving by yourself.’ Kyrie Irving, ‘I’m not getting a vax.’ I believe if he was married, his wife would’ve said, ‘Get to a damn pharmacy. You’re part of a team. Get over yourself.’”
He then decided to take a few shots at James Harden and Kyler Murray.
“James Harden, Aaron Rodgers … Rich, getting older, single, no woman to hold you accountable. You look at those Super Bowls. Lot of married dudes. The Mannings are married. Brady’s married. Russell Wilson married. Big Ben was in all sorts of trouble, then he got married. Got a little heavy, didn’t work as hard, but I liked him more. Kyler Murray, this offseason, my takeaway on him a few weeks ago, dude needs to get married. Get off the video games.”
From an on-field perspective, Rodgers has played some of the best football of his career over the past two seasons.
The 38-year-old passed for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and just five interceptions in 2020 and followed that up with 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns, and just four interceptions last season.
