Baker Mayfield is expected to be traded fairly soon, as the Cleveland Browns have acquired Deshaun Watson to lead the franchise as the new face for years to come.
As we get closer to the 2022 NFL Draft, there have been little to no reports of any team reaching out to try and nad Baker Mayfield, even with teams who desperately need a QB.
Colin Cowherd seems to know why.
On Wednesday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd addressed a report that league executives are “shocked” that Mayfield hasn’t found a new team yet. The longtime detractor stated that teams think Mayfield has bigger priorities of being his own brand and even referenced the “commercials, big personality and magazine covers” as reasons teams are unsure about him.
Cowherd said that teams are reluctant to bring in Mayfield because they don’t believe they can convince him to buy into their culture.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft only got the Browns to the playoffs once, but he did deliver a playoff win against the Steelers. Whatever goodwill he got from that year died with his poor play in 2021.

He now finds himself on the outside looking in, but he just might remain on the roster if the team cannot find a trade partner.
Mayfield, 26, played through several injuries in 2021. He finished the season with 3,010 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 14 games.
