The New York Giants have suffered a setback this week as one of their wide receivers has been sidelined.
According to head coach Brian Daboll, Cole Beasley is dealing with a leg injury that has kept him out of two straight practices.
“Giants wide receiver Cole Beasley is dealing with a leg injury. Coach Brian Daboll confirmed today that Beasley is missing his second consecutive practice with the injury,” ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith reported on Wednesday.
The Giants signed Beasley in free agency earlier this year with the aim of giving quarterback Daniel Jones an additional offensive outlet.
The 34-year-old wideout got significant minutes in NY’s preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Friday, making four catches for a total of 33 yards. The leg injury comes as a worrying development given that he isn’t assured a roster spot.
The news also surfaces from an enjoyable period for the Giants. One of the biggest positives coming from their camp is Darren Waller, whose performances so far have been very encouraging following his move from the Las Vegas Raiders back in March.

The team was also able to come to terms with Saquon Barkley, which leaves them with two of the most productive backs in the league.
They will hope that this injury to Beasley does not keep him out very long.
