Cole Beasley told reporters that he contacted quarterback Tom Brady numerous times before signing with the Bucs’ practice squad Wednesday.
According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, Beasley said that he sent direct messages to Brady in order to make this match happen. He added that waiting so long to find another opportunity was “humbling” and that this is his first NFL season without going through training camp.
“I’ve been wanting to play with Brady for a long time, so it’s exciting for me. I’m excited for the opportunity.
I’m just ready to get back at it. It’s a humbling experience kind of waiting this long; it’s the first time I’ve never been through a [training] camp, so I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.”
Prior to signing with the Bucs — Beasley played seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and three with the Buffalo Bills. He caught 82 passes for 693 yards and one touchdown for Buffalo last season.
