Clyde Edwards-Helaire is only 24-years-old but he is already preparing himself for when his NFL career comes to an end.
When the Kansas City Chiefs running back is not training to run away from or through defenders, Edwards-Helaire is learning how to be a nurse and care for others. Edwards-Helaire subtly dropped in a TikTok recently the news that he’s currently in school to become a nurse.
That immediately sparked an interest in fans.
Edwards-Helaire would explain to reporters that his passion to go into nursing was inspired by the fact that his mother is a nurse. The 24-year-old stated to reporters that this has been a goal he has been pursuing since he started college at LSU in 2019.
“I know, for my profession, what I want to do for the rest of my life,” Edwards-Helaire said, via KSHB41. “If y’all need some shots or an IV, holler at ya boy.”
“I wasn’t able to do the nursing things because, being at LSU, the nursing school and playing football, I would have to do LSU in New Orleans and some other stuff, and I was not necessarily planning on leaving early but had the opportunity to,” Edwards-Helaire said.

“So now I’m back at school, rolling.”
Edwards-Helaire began college heading down the path of sports science as he considered majoring in kinesiology or a career as a physical therapist. On his old LSU roster page, they listed his major as sports administration.
This week, Edwards-Helaire has an important game at hand as the Chiefs prepare to face the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday night. It will be the first time Patrick Mahomes has to play on the road in the postseason.
This season, Edwards-Helaire has performed well in his role as he rushed for 223 yards (14.9 per game) on 70 carries with one touchdown.
