A report has surfaced bearing concerning claims pertaining to a player the Kansas City Chiefs picked in the first round.
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been named in a piece from Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox naming players who could get cut during training camp this year.
The RB was a first-round pick in 2020 but has had his struggles remaining in playing shape while his fifth-year option was declined by the team, who started 2022 seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco in his place last season.
Edwards-Helaire was healthy enough to play during February’s Super Bowl, but Pacheco and Jerrick McKinnon were deployed at running back while the former was a healthy scratch after being activated from the injured reserve.
The 24-year-old recently revealed he trained as a wide receiver the week before the big game, but we have no idea how things would have unfolded had he been played as a wideout.
He is well aware that he will be scrapping for playing time next season and will need to show that he’s fully healthy and ready to go after missing seven games in 2022. According to Knox, he could be released if that doesn’t end up being the case.

Cutting him would only erase a $865,726 cap hit for Kansas, but they also have less than $1 million in cap space and could fill his roster spot with a player they deem more capable.
