The Cleveland Browns grinded out a victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers but they had one more huge move to make.
Joe Flacco’s workout for the Browns on Friday went well, and barring some unforeseen circumstance, he was expected to sign. That moment came hours after the team defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
The Browns want to have him in place before they begin preparations for next Sunday’s game in Denver.
Based on the fact he started games last season, the Browns undoubtedly see him as more than just a mentor to Thompson-Robinson as he tries to guide the Browns to the playoffs and perhaps even the AFC North crown.
Flacco has gone 3-14 in his last 17 starts with the Broncos and Jets since leaving Baltimore after 2018.
Last year, Flacco appeared in five games and made four starts for the Jets, completing 57.6 percent of his passes for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
