A year ago, the idea of Odell Beckham Jr. ever returning to the Cleveland Browns seemed ridiculous, given the well-documented and ugly breakup they endured over a year ago.
But if Beckham’s asking price is reasonable? The Browns just might be willing to do business again.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com answered questions from fans concerning the Browns, and one reader asked about the receivers that the club may target in free agency. Cabot suggested that Mecole Hardman, D.J. Chark and even Beckham would make sense for the AFC North team:
“New Browns safety Juan Thornhill lobbied for the speedy Hardman on Friday, his former Chiefs teammate, and Hardman replied with the eyeball emoji seemingly indicating interest.
Chark also brings much-needed speed, as does Odell Beckham Jr., who announced on Twitter Saturday that he’s not asking for $20 million a year, but that $4 million ‘AINT enough.’ The Browns attended Beckham’s private workout in Arizona, where he showed he can run. If the price is right, they won’t hesitate to sign him.”
The Browns acquired Beckham from the New York Giants in a 2019 offseason blockbuster trade, pairing him with ex-LSU Tigers teammate Jarvis Landry. Though the Browns performed well below expectations, Beckham finished the year with 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns.
Beckham Jr. had 23 catches for 319 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 before unfortunately suffering a season-ending ACL tear. He missed the Browns’ surprise run to the postseason, where they reached the Divisional Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Browns released Beckham in the midst of the 2021 season, and he wound up signing with the Los Angeles Rams. Beckham recorded five touchdown receptions in just eight regular season games and helped the Rams to a Super Bowl 56 appearance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Unfortunately, Beckham tore his ACL in the big game, which the Rams went on to win. He missed most of 2022 recovering from the injury and didn’t end up signing with any club for the final stretch.
But Beckham’s track record speaks for itself. It’s only a matter of time until the three-time Pro Bowler lands with a new team, be it the Browns or somebody else.
