Over the past month, the Cleveland Browns looked like a perennial Super Bowl contender with Joe Flacco behind center.
The wheels finally fell off at the wrong time as Flacco started playing like a 38-year-old quarterback when the team took on the Houston Texans in the Wild Card playoff game.
Flacco had thrown for over 300 yards in four straight games and in those four games, he had led Cleveland to a 4-0 record.
Despite his good play, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Deshaun Watson remains the team’s starting quarterback heading into the 2024 offseason.
Flacco will be the backup.
The Browns defense dominated for the majority of this season, but it struggled throughout against Houston when the lights were brightest.

The 2024 season will be Deshaun Watson’s time to come back from shoulder surgery and establish himself as the franchise quarterback the Browns believe they acquired in a March 2022 trade with the Texans.
The $230 million guaranteed investment the Browns made in Watson came despite more than two dozen women accusing him of sexual misconduct or sexual assault during massage appointments when he was a member of the Texans.
