Fans of the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans have been sitting on the edge of their seats this entire weekend…
No, its not because their teams were playing in the NFL Playoffs. The Colts and Texans were eliminated from the postseason months ago. Rather, they were all anxiously awaiting word on whether or not Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud would declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Texans currently own the second overall pick, which the Colts hold the fourth pick. And it’s widely expected that both teams will come out of that first round with their new franchise quarterback.
Will Stroud be one of them?
It’s looking like he will, as the Heisman Trophy finalist released a statement on Twitter earlier today, informing Buckeyes nation that he will in fact be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
At the moment, Stroud is expected to be the second quarterback to come off the board, behind Alabama’s Bryce Young. He will also get some pressure from Kentucky’s Will Levis, who’s projected to be the third QB taken in the top 10 this April.

This could all change in a heartbeat, however, as all three quarterbacks have shown potential to develop into elite signal-callers at the NFL level. Just ask anyone who watch what Stroud did to that Georgia defense on New Years Eve.
If he were to hear his name called first on April 27, it wouldn’t surprise me or anyone else who watched him ball out in that Peach Bowl thriller.
