Houston Texans’ rookie signal-caller C.J. Stroud won’t take his first official NFL snap for almost three more months, but one veteran wideout is wasting no time hyping up the No. 2 selection of this year’s draft.
Wide receiver Noah Brown joined the Texans in free agency after spending his first six years with the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking that Stroud can be a better quarterback than his former teammate in Dak Prescott.
Per Coty M. Davis of TexansDaily from FanNation of Sports Illustrated, Brown explained why he believes Stroud can “surpass” Prescott and develop into the superior quarterback:
“I know C.J. has great arm talent. The little bit of time I’ve been here working with him, he’s picked up the offense fast, taken ownership of his reps. I think that can only lead to positive things.”
“They’re both great quarterbacks — great arm talent. That’s a great class to be in. I think he has all the potential to live up to that, maybe even surpass it. So, you know, I’m rooting for C.J. and I’m willing to have his back on anything.”
Houston used the No. 2 selection on Stroud, right after the Carolina Panthers selected Alabama’ quarterback Bryce Young with the top pick. In his final season of college football, Stroud completed 66.3 percent of pass attempts for 3,688 yards and 41 touchdowns against only six interceptions.
The two-time Pro Bowler owns a career record of 61-36-0, and he’s led Dallas to the postseason on four occasions. Prescott has 24, 943 career passing yards and 166 touchdowns against 65 interceptions.

Of course, Prescott’s career up to this point has been largely defined by a lack of postseason success. But as far as individual performances go, Prescott has been among the NFL’s better QBs since his rookie year.
