Detroit Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was understandably hyped after helping his team secure a huge win on Thursday night.
The Lions beat the Kansas City Chiefs 21-20, picking up where they left off after winning eight of their final 20 games last season. The Chiefs were up 20-14 in the fourth quarter, however, running back David Montgomery gave them a lead that they were able to hold on to until time expired.
Given the way they ended last season, many expect Detroit to be a playoff team this time around. Still, they weren’t tipped to beat the Chiefs at home this week despite both Travis Kelce and Chris Jones being out – so Gardner-Johnson was pretty excited after winning his first game in a Lions Jersey.
The former Philadelphia Eagles defensive star got on Instagram Live to make some serious proclamations as he celebrated the victory in the locker room, stating “This ain’t the same Detroit” as he went around congratulating his teammates.
