Every week, there’s one Sunday Night Football player introduction that stands out above the rest. This week, it belongs to Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Alex Cappa.
While being introduced to viewers on NBC, rather than say his college, Cappa instead said, “Alex Kappa, Lumberjack Iron.”
Fans tuning in immediately took notice, and they were loving it.
Cappa attended Humboldt State, but they dropped their football program during the 2018 season. It’s a decision that hasn’t sat well with former players, and it appears as though Cappa still holds some resentment towards his alma mater.
So, instead of giving Humboldt State a shoutout, he went with “Lumberjack Iron,” which is apparently the name of the Humboldt State University strength and conditioning program. The program was overseen by award winning strength & conditioning coach Drew Petersen.
And now, many more people will know all about Lumberjack Iron thanks to Alex Cappa.
