The Cincinnati Bengals might be sweating over the future of one of their best players as Ja’Marr Chase is looking for a massive new neal
The AFC outfit is known for penny-pinching and often pouts over giving players guaranteed money. But they’re now in a position where they have several of their top stars looking for extensions.
It appears the situation might be worse than initially thought because Chase’s contract demands have leaked to the public this week.
The superstar wide receiver was expected to ask for a five-year deal worth around $180 million, yet he’s reportedly asked for a lot more despite the aforementioned figure topping Justin Jefferson’s Vikings deal.
Chase is understood to be looking for $160 million spread over four years with $120 million guaranteed. Such a deal would see his earnings match that of some of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, as it would pay him $40 million a year.

Ja’Marr Chase Is Likely Being Cautious
Ja’Marr Chase is, of course, one of the best wideouts in the league. However, all of the owners would hate to have the WR market reset at such a bar.
The Bengals would especially loathe it as it would account for 20 percent of their total salary cap per season, although owner Mike Brown recently claimed the team would do whatever it takes to keep their star.
“He’s a key player. Next to Joe, he’s our next one. And he knows it, we know it,” Brown said in July. “We are gonna bend over backwards to get it done. I can’t tell you when, though.”
Chase is heading into the fourth year of his rookie deal with the team, with his fifth-year option picked up. But he could be insistent on getting a new deal now as opposed to later after seeing how things played out with Jesse Bates and Tee Higgins, who were both tagged after playing the final year on their deals.
