Christian McCaffrey’s mom had a rough time at the NFC Championship game last month, though it must have ended with tears of joy.
It appeared that all was lost after the Detroit Lions went up by three scores against the San Francisco 49ers before halftime, and Lisa McCaffrey simply could not handle it. She has revealed having locked herself in a private bathroom and crying her eyes out before the Niners pulled off their shocking comeback.
“I left where we were sitting and I went into the gender-neutral bathroom, because it was a private bathroom, shut the door, locked it and I just started bawling,” she admitted on the ‘Your Mom’ podcast (H/T the New York Post).
“It was awful. I was crying and people were coming in and out of our little suite and nobody could say the right thing, and it wasn’t them, it was just nobody could say the right thing, and I’m literally welling up, so I just run in, the bathroom happened to be open, I locked the door and cried for 10 minutes, and then we got back out there and persevered.”
McCaffrey’s brilliance was one of the biggest reasons the Niners were able to pull themselves out of the hole. The running back rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns, also claiming 42 yards through the air as he made four catches.
Lisa was able to close the night off celebrating with her son, as well as her husband Ed, who won a Super Bowl with the 49ers as a receiver in 1995.
All’s well that ends well. But there’s still one more game to go.
