Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and Fred Warner led the way in one of the most prolific regular seasons in 49ers history.
The only question was where their star running back was when it came to his injury for their upcoming playoff game. McCaffrey missed Week 18 after suffering a calf injury during the Week 17 game in which San Francisco clinched the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
He’s apparently healthy after a bye and should be ready for his usual every-down role this Saturday against Green Bay in the divisional round of the playoffs.
McCaffrey is prepping for Saturday’s playoff opener by returning to the 49ers’ practice field for the first time since his Dec. 31st calf strain.
Despite missing the Week 18 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, McCaffrey won the NFL’s regular-season rushing title with 1,459 yards on the year. He closed the 2023 regular season with 2,023 scrimmage yards, 21 scrimmage touchdowns, and 339 touches.
The final NFC Offensive Player of the Month award of the regular season also went to him after a tremendous output in his five outings during the month of December. He racked up 520 yards on 79 carries and three touchdowns on the ground and added 19 catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
