The San Francisco 49ers players are still salty about the way their awesome season came to an end, which saw them not having an available QB to play much of the second half against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game.
The game turned into a blowout after Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury in the first half and then Josh Johnson had to leave due to a concussion. Purdy would be forced to come back in, but he couldn’t throw the football at all.
The injuries led to running back Christian McCaffrey pushing for the league to change a rule that could’ve helped them. A rule change can allow teams to carry three quarterbacks for each game.
“It feels like something got stolen from you. Hopefully they change that rule where you can carry a third quarterback,” McCaffrey said.
That rule would need to be approved by the NFL’s Competition Committee.
It is highly rare for a team to lose four quarterbacks in a single season, but that is exactly what happened to the 49ers.

The 49ers are likely to be in the same position next season, but hopefully with healthy quarterbacks on the roster.
