San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey’s girlfriend Olivia Culpo had some reassuring words for the 26-year-old after the Niners’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Eagles are headed to the Super Bowl, having ran out to a 31-7 rout of the undermanned 49ers, and got to celebrate the NFC Championship while San Francisco cursed their poor luck.
The Eagles didn’t have to be spectacular on the day, with their own quarterback Jalen Hurts still not at 100 percent. They simply needed to contain an offense that was left without breakout star Brock Purdy after just a few plays, with the young signal caller appearing to sustain an elbow injury on a sack. Even the Niners’ fourth-string QB, Josh Johnson, was required to exit the contest as he was suspected to have suffered a head injury after getting sacked himself.
McCaffrey tried as best he could to make the best of a bad situation and even slotted in as a quarterback for one play. He made 15 carries for 85 yards and scored a touchdown, but his efforts were not nearly enough as his TD was the only one San Francisco would record during the game.
After the loss, McCaffrey’s partner took to Instagram to share a four-word message for the running back via her story
“Beyond proud of you,” she wrote as the caption to a photo of McCaffery kissing her on the cheek while she laughs.

McCaffery joined the 49ers in the middle of the season as part of a trade from the Carolina Panthers. His arrival, as well as Purdy’s emergence, left them in the win column for an impressive stretch. Injuries, sadly, have taken away any shot they had at a Super Bowl.
