Linebacker Christian Kirksey is retiring after nine-plus NFL seasons, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. he is only 31.
Kirksey, a former third-round pick out of Iowa, started his NFL career with the Browns in 2014. He landed on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad this season after playing for the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, and then the Houston Texans.
Kirksey notably amassed 286 total tackles in 2016 and 2017, including a career-high 148 in the former year.
Over the course of his NFL career, Kirksey racked up 778 total tackles, 45 tackles for loss, 33 pass breakups, 16.5 sacks, seven interceptions and six fumble recoveries.
