The New York Jets made a big move to their quarterback room and it doe not involve Aaron Rodgers.
The team released fourth-string quarterback Chris Streveler after he missed Sunday’s practice with a thumb injury sustained during the Hall of Fame Game on August 3. He finished that game with just one completion for nine yards and an interception on seven attempts.
Streveler began his collegiate career with Minnesota where he spent two years with the Golden Gophers before transferring to South Dakota. He shined playing for the Coyotes, finishing with 6,081 yards passing and 74 total touchdowns in two seasons.
After going undrafted, he signed with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He got his first taste of NFL action in 2020 when the Arizona Cardinals took a chance on him. He’s also spent time with the Ravens, Dolphins, and, of course, the Jets.
Streveler’s thrown for 231 yards and one touchdown with one pick throughout his NFL career. He’s also picked up 75 yards on the ground.
The Jets will be just fine with having Aaron Rodgers as the starter, and Tim Boyle and Zach Wilson as the 2nd and third string quarterbacks as we get closer to the start of the 2023 season.
