Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles being so successful on the Tush Push has garnered some hateful reactions.
The Philadelphia Eagles “tush push” has turned into one of the most controversial play calls in the league, mainly because nobody has figured out how to stop the Eagles from doing it so well. It was bad enough that a Tampa Bay Bucs fan wanted the Eagles quarterback to be injured over it, but now a former quarterback is saying something bad toward Hurts as well.
The former QB-turned-analyst, who nearly died on the field after rupturing his spleen during a 2006 game, suggested that opposition defenses “head-hunt” the quarterback on plays when the tush push is used.
“Go head-hunting on the quarterback here. Go ahead, let him have it,” Simms said. “Dive over, go crazy. Try to kill the quarterback. That’s what I would do.”
The Eagles have turned the quarterback sneak into a cheat code the league still can’t solve. It’s pretty obvious that the league will ultimately outlaw it as soon as next offseason for whatever reason they can come up with. Talks of banning it emerged over the offseason after the Eagles repeatedly utilized it during the Super Bowl.
“We’re the only people doing it as well as we are. There was a guy who even wanted me hurt for it, too,” Hurts said Wednesday in response to the Tampa Bay Bucs fan.
