An apparent increase in violence at NFL stadiums has many fans on edge, especially after a number of fights were captured on camera just this past week. While the Dallas Cowboys laid the beating on the Los Angeles Chargers in a hard-fought game, resulting in a 20-17 win, fists were flying everywhere in SoFi Stadium.
The worst fight this year led to a New England Patriots fan losing his life after collapsing from a punch at Gillette Stadium.
The incessant number of NFL fights is something Roger Goodell and the NFL must clean up. One former player has an idea.
Super Bowl champion Chris Long used the latest episode of his Green Light podcast to speak out against fans who fight at NFL games.
“People are picking up the stanchions, like the metal poles that are supposed to keep you out of the hot dog line, and swinging them like battle axes,” Long said. “It’s out of control. I agree, we all agreed, a couple weeks ago, no more talking good about these fights. … They don’t entertain me at all.”
Long then pitched an insane idea to contain the chaos.
“We’ve got to put a cage in these stadiums, where we get these f—ing fans in there, and they fight a fair one. There’s no higher ground. There’s no grabbing onto each other’s Dak Prescott jerseys. There’s no any of it.”

He even added that fans could bet on the fights if the NFL game they were attending turned into a blowout, and he even invited commentators to get in on the action.
As you already know, this will never happen. Something seriously needs to happen before more fans suffer injuries and die.
Last year, a jarring video showed one man being thrown over the railing of a pedestrian concourse onto the cement below. Another incident involved a visiting San Francisco 49ers fan being placed into an induced coma after he was hit by another fan in the parking garage.
Security and law enforcement is at every stadium but it can never truly be enough when you have thousands of people scattered across numerous sections.
