Chris Jones was a popular man on social media this Sunday following the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss in their preseason opener.
The defensive lineman is after a contract that will make him one of the highest-paid defenders in NFL history and remains away from the team in a bid to force them to give him what he wants, even having lost over $1 million in fines to this point.
The Chiefs’ defense was awful against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Most of their defensive starters played the first two possessions of the 26-24 loss and the Saints scored two easy touchdowns on those drives as Derek Carr passed for 128 yards over a total of 16 plays.
Fans were all about Jones on Twitter after watching the worrying defensive display. You could see some of their reactions right below:

Sure, it’s preseason and this one game isn’t going to convince the Chiefs to pay Jones the money he wants. But it would be hard to argue against the notion that the defense would have been much better had he played on Sunday.
With the regular season just over three weeks away, the Chiefs would do well to come to terms with their defensive star before they’re to suit up against the Detroit Lions in their first game.
