Two notable Cleveland Browns players, including one former Kansas City Chiefs’ star, had some interesting social media activity which suggests that Chris Jones could be on the move.
The star defensive tackle is in a holdout as he continues to seek a new deal. The two-time Super Bowl champion is entering the final season of a four-year deal worth $80 million that he signed in 2020.
Cleveland safety Juan Thornhill, who won two Super Bowl championships with Jones in Kansas City, and linebacker Za’Darius Smith posted cryptic tweets which some are interpreting as hints that the four-time Pro Bowler is on his way out of Kansas City.
The Chiefs haven’t offered any hints that they’re willing to trade the MVP of their defense, but it certainly looks like he’s prepared to miss some time. Kansas City kicks off the 2023 season with a home tilt against the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.

Last season, Jones racked up 15.5 sacks (tying his career-high from 2018) to go along with four pass defenses and a pair of forced fumbles. For his career, Jones has 65 sacks, 33 pass defenses and 12 forced fumbles.
