Chris Jones continues to make it abundantly clear that he will not step on the field unless he gets a new deal. On Tuesday, a fan on social media asked the All-Pro defensive tackle when he planned to return to the Kansas City Chiefs. He responded succinctly: “Week 8.”
That means Jones is willing to miss almost half the season in search of a new deal. If Jones stays true to his statement, he will miss Chiefs games against the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
It seems as if the team may be forced to trade him, which leads to speculation on where he could end up.
A new rumor is now linking Jones to an up-and-coming NFC team: The Chicago Bears.
As the Bears’ roster sits right now, you have one of the more improved rosters in the NFL and one of the youngest. Adding a guy like Chris Jones would do wonders for their defense.
Jones has one year remaining on his contract with a base salary of $19.5 million. He already has over $1 million in fines by missing training camp and he would lose another $1,083,333 for each game missed, per Arrowhead Pride.

Jones’ impact is felt on the Chiefs, as the only defensive player to earn a Pro Bowl selection last year. He has 243 tackles, 65 sacks, 12 forced fumbles and three turnovers.
The star interior lineman’s holdout hasn’t ended yet, and Kansas City’s regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions is just over two weeks away.
