Having lost three games in a row now, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be wise to punt on 2023 and sell hard at Tuesday’s trade deadline.
The Bucs’ 3-1 start feels like a lifetime ago now, and it’s evident that they don’t have the pieces (especially at quarterback) in place to compete this year. GM Jason Licht has several enticing trade assets here, including star wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Both veteran wideouts should attract plenty of interest on the open market if Licht ends up shopping them. While the 30-year-old Evans is a pending free agent, the 27-year-old Godwin is signed through 2024, so the latter definitely carries more trade value.
Perhaps no Super Bowl contender could use Godwin more than the Kansas City Chiefs, who’ve received little production from their wide receivers.
The Chiefs could undoubtedly use a stud wideout like Godwin, who has three 1,000-yard campaigns and five straight years of 800-plus yards under his belt.

Kansas City should offer Tampa Bay a 2024 second-round pick and wide receiver Kadarius Toney for Godwin. The Bucs would be getting a nice return here for Godwin with a day-two pick and a recent former first-round pick.
Adding Godwin to a Patrick Mahomes-led offense would go a long way in fixing KC’s offensive issues while also bolstering their chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions.
