Cris Collinsworth ended up with a whole lot more fish than he thought he was getting for Thanksgiving.
The NBC analyst revealed having visited Seattle’s Pike Place fish market earlier this week with the intention of getting some seafood for his family. But he ended up leaving with enough fish to feed every family on the block for at least a few days.
Speaking on Thursday night’s broadcast of the game between the 49ers and Seahawks, the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver disclosed his laughable gaffe as he described how he ended up spending $800 worth of fish.
“I never buy fish,” he explained. “But you’re in the market and you say, ‘Ok, I’m going to buy myself some fish, and I’m gonna take it home for Thanksgiving.’ So I go in there, and I see the thing, and this big fish is there, and it says $35. I go, ‘Well, that’s pretty good!’
“So I come out, and I go, ‘I’ll take two!’… I got 72 bucks. $800! I was like, ‘per pound!’… But you can’t go back once you’ve said you want two fish. They already have it all loaded up!”
Per the math, Cris left the fish market with close to 29 pounds of fish and spent a whopping $730 more than he planned to.
That’s gotta sting.

On the bright side, he’s not going to have to buy fish for a while.
