Rashee Rice has released a statement through his attorney as it appears he has finally made his way to the authorities following his part in causing an accident on the weekend.
The Kansas City wide receiver was being sought by police after his involvement in a speeding incident that led to a multiple-car collision in Northern Dallas on Saturday evening. Rice did not remain at the scene of the crash and was shown fleeing the scene thereafter.
It was reported on Sunday night that Rice had retained legal counsel, though it was unclear as to whether he was wanted on charges. His lawyer, Royce West, has since put out a statement claiming the player is cooperating with authorities.
The statement, which is below, was shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile accident on Saturday,” it reads. “Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.”
