The Las Vegas Raiders have the option of rescinding the $10.1 million franchise tag they placed on Josh Jacobs as the disgruntled running back has so far refused to sign it.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the player is aware of the possibility and does not care. Jacobs is one of the best in the business and would have suitors should he become a free agent in August or September.
Florio has also cited a source who has informed him that the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos are among teams who are interested in Jacobs.
The Broncos would find a move more difficult but the Chiefs would make the most sense for the RB given that they’re the Raiders’ traditional rivals.
While he might not make as much as he would on the franchise tag, Jacobs is understood to have different motivations and his interests aren’t money-driven.
The 2022 All-Pro is angry at the Raiders for opting not to pick up his fifth-year option and then making things worse by failing to make him a meaningful, long-term offer.

On the Raiders’ side, they seem to want to sign the player on a year-to-year basis under the tag and keep him for two more seasons before he becomes a free agent with six years of wear and tear.
