Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Super Bowl 57 MVP Patrick Mahomes was caught off guard by one of the ride’s at Disneyland.
It’s a popular tradition for the Super Bowl MVP to say that they’re going to Disneyland or Disney World. It started back in 1987 when then-New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, the Super Bowl 21 MVP, stated “I’m going to Disney World!” in a post-SB commercial.
Three years ago, Mahomes captured his first Super Bowl championship and SB MVP award, which meant a trip to Disneyland. Mahomes got to enjoy the same luxury again this year, but there was one ride that admittedly surprised him, as he explained during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (h/t Cory Woodroof of For The Win):
“It was actually pretty crazy. It caught me by surprise a couple of times. I thought it was, like, a kids’ ride how it was set up, and all of a sudden, I’m flying around in this place, and I’m like, how do y’all let little kids on this thing?”
Mahomes had a near-flawless game against the Philadelphia Eagles’ stingy defense in Super Bowl 57. He complete 21 of 27 pass attempts for 182 yards and three touchdowns while adding 44 rushing yards on six carries. Mahomes didn’t commit a single turnover, nor was he ever sacked.
The Chiefs won 38-35 on a late field goal by Harrison Butker, securing the franchise it’s second Lombardi Trophy in four seasons. With Mahomes and Andy Reid still leading the way, there’s no telling how many more titles this core can win together.
