For the second straight year, and for the third time in five years, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the NFL Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs hosted the Detroit Lions in the season opening game of 2023 after winning Super Bowl 57. Having outlasted the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58, the Chiefs will once again have the honors of hosting the first game of 2024 against one of these opponents:
Looking at that list, there’s one team that especially stands out as a Week 1 opponent for Kansas City, as fans on X/Twitter pointed out:

The Chiefs defeated MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in the AFC Championship Game. Based on the NFL’s schedule rotation (AFC North vs. AFC West), the Chiefs will play host to the Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals in 2024, and they’ll visit the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Baltimore is obviously the most intriguing matchup, but Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals also deserve consideration. But also, don’t be surprised if the NFL decides to schedule John Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers debut in the opening game.
Another exciting footnote: Thanks to the “17th game” format, the Chiefs will visit the 49ers in a rematch of Super Bowl 58 next season.
