Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has made a funny request as his team awaits its Super Bowl 57 showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Valdes-Scantling and the Chiefs will meet the Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 12. Rihanna, the nine-time Grammy award winner, will have the fortunes of headlining the Super Bowl 57 halftime show.
That will surely be a firm “no”, as NFL players and coaches will be spending the halftime break in the locker room to go over gameplans and strategies. As kind as he is to his players, there’s no chance Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will let his deep threat receiver skip that to watch the halftime show.
Valdes-Scantling stepped up big for the Chiefs in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals, racking up six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs had lost Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney and top wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster all left the game with injuries, but Valdes-Scantling and tight end Travis Kelce did more than enough in the receiving department to help Kansas City advance.
The Chiefs won on a late 45-yard Harrison Butker field goal, sending the franchise to its third Super Bowl appearance in four seasons.
