San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy didn’t have a terrible game. The second-year star completed 23 of his 38 pass attempts for 255 yards and a touchdown in a heartbreaking 25-22 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58.
While he didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard, Purdy did lead his Niners on some big drives and certainly didn’t lose his team the game…
However, he didn’t win it for them either. And based on these postgame comments from Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, it seems like the Chiefs were pretty confident that the Niners’ signal-caller couldn’t beat them.
While speaking to reporters after the game, Sneed admitted that the Chiefs “just wanted Brock to throw the ball.”
Saying you want the opposing team’s QB to throw the ball is the best way to take an undercover shot at them. Hard to argue with Sneed, though, as his team is the one hoisting the Lombardi Trophy tonight.
