The Kansas City Chiefs were still good enough to win a Super Bowl after losing Tyreek Hill. But they could become even more dangerous this offseason as they’ve been linked with one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
According to league insider Benjamin Allbright, the Chiefs could be the most likely landing spot for Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins.
The defending champions are likely to be in the market for a new WR and they’ve been branded “the team to watch for DeAndre Hopkins,” with Juju Smith-Schuster set for free agency after signing a one-year deal in 2022. Mecole Hardman is also going to be a free agent while Marquez Valdes-Scantling could end up being released as it would save the Chiefs $7 million.
Should the Chiefs lose all three players, their reliance on Travis Kelce could increase, though he’s probably the one tight end no quarterback would mind having to depend on for an entire season. However, Patrick Mahomes would be left with inexperienced receivers in Kadarious Toney and Skyy Moore.
The pair completed some big plays during the Super Bowl but Hopkins could be the man KC looks to. The 30-year-old only played in nine games last season, missing six through suspension and another two due to injury, but he still made 64 receptions for 717 yards.
Just imagine how productive he’d be playing a full season with Mahomes throwing him the ball.
