Chris Jones is likely not going to play during the 2020 NFL season, and it has nothing to do with the coronavirus pandemic.
The Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle has yet to sign his franchise tag for the 2020 season as he seeks a long-term deal for the second consecutive offseason.
On Tuesday, Jones took to Twitter and took exception to a video stating that the Chiefs don’t view him as a $20M per season type of player. He then threatened to sit out.
Jones referenced Bell’s holdout during the 2018 season as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jones is currently slated to make just north of $16 million in 2020, but Jones clearly wants the security of a long-term deal to ensure his extended future in the NFL.
