The Chicago Bears seem dead set on changing the course of the franchise and getting their franchise QB.
In fact, the franchise appear willing to part with a “boatload” of draft picks in order to land quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans or Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora.
“Well, sources said they are prepared to throw a boatload of picks at the Texans — for Deshaun Watson — and Seahawks — for Russell Wilson — in an attempt to upgrade at the most important position in all of professional sports,” La Canfora wrote, via CBS.
La Canfora added that teams shouldn’t underestimate “how desperate” the Bears are this offseason. As of right now, the Bears own the No. 20 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Not exactly the sexiest pick to have, but if they can unload it with other picks and not have to go back to Nick Foles or Mitch Trubisky at quarterback, I think they will do the deal.
Watson reportedly wants out of Houston, but the Texans’ front office have maintained that they will not move him. New general manager Nick Caserio has already stated that he has “zero interest” in trading the three-time Pro Bowler.
“Organizationally, I just want to reiterate our commitment to Deshaun Watson,” Caserio said on Jan. 29. “He’s had a great impact on this organization, a great impact on a lot of people, a great impact on this team, and we look forward to the opportunity to spend more time with him here this spring once we get started.”
Wilson, on the other hand, has not demanded a trade from Seattle, but has reportedly has a list of teams he would like to go to, which includes the Bears.
