The ‘Monday Night Football’ matchup between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings will not go down as one of the most entertaining MNF fixtures in NFL history. Heck, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman couldn’t wait for it to be over.
Still, it did produce one of the most ridiculous penalties you’re ever going to see as Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon was unjustly punished for taunting during the first half of the game.
Gordon had his facemask ripped off during an interception return, with things getting a little rough on the sideline. The foul wasn’t called, but the CB got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after removing his helmet and was then called for taunting when he tried to show it to the refs.
The officials could have reviewed the call but chose not to as they stuck by their decision to penalize the player for having a broken mask. The Bears offense handed the ball back to the Vikings on a three-and-out.
The moment prompted outrage from fans online, which is not surprising given how ludicrous of a call it was.

The Bears also got six penalties in the first half while the Vikings only got one. They will be happy with the result, however, as they ended up winning 12-10.
